I’ll be participating in a debate tonight in Camp Hill, PA. Representatives from the McCain/Palin campaign will be present, as well as policy representatives from Obama/Biden. We will be addressing healthcare, immigration, energy, education, the economy and job creation along with the important social issues.
Here are the times and locations:
Oct 29th
Camp Hill, PA: Oct 29th, 7:00 P.M.
Faith and Politics Forum
2645 Lisburn Rd.
Camp Hill, PA
Thanks again for your support as we near the finish line of this campaign. The schedule has been crazy, but it’s all been worth it. I realize, if you are reading the comments on this blog, it seems like there is a lot of tension out there, but in the events I’ve attended there has only been objectivity and civility. The experience has renewed my faith in the goodness of the average man. I’ve attended about twenty events covering all the battle-ground states and we simply haven’t encountered the least bit of tension. Not sure where it comes from online. I doubt we are our best when we can hide behind our computers, but I assure you America is doing fine.
I’ll post a final recap before November 4th. I hope to get home this weekend, before the Texas vs. Texas Tech game (Go Longhorns!) and will get it up before election day. That said, though, many, if not most of the posts mention the unfortunate reality of abortion. I wanted to share a study with you from which I get a great deal of confidence that the issue should also be considered economically. I will be talking about this more, though in brief, in my recap, but for now the data will have to suffice as my answer to those sending questions about the issue. Thanks again for your consideration.
The link is to a Catholic, pro-life study about the factors that lead to unwanted pregnancy and abortion. The study compares, in part, legal strategy with economic strategy. Both seem important, but one certainly trumps the other. Unfortunately, neither party manages to encompass both approaches.

(Regarding posting comments. I have to go through each comment, and I am unable to do that while on the road. Also, because I can’t read all the links, I can’t post comments with links. Other than that, I should be home soon. Thanks.)

Also I just got the “war of art” book you recommended to me and its brutal (in an inspiring way)
texas tech has a pretty good defense this year but no worries.

Don,
Thanks for coming to the faith forum in PA on the 29th. It wasn’t the most accepting crowd of new ideas, but I felt you and your fellow Obama representatives did a fantastic job in representing Senator Obama’s philosophy, policies, and faith throughout the discussion. It was such a pleasure to meet you after; it’s something I will never forget. Never doubt that your work matters, it changes people’s lives. I took some pretty decent pictures at the event. Feel free to e-mail me at robinand@dickinson.edu for them. I also have some other questions for you regarding the interaction of politics and religion. As a Political Science and Religion double major at Dickinson College (which is a small liberal arts school, very similar to Reed), I have always enjoyed studying this interaction, and would love to hear the thoughts of my favorite author. Anyways, thanks again. I hope to see you sometime again soon.

Hey Don,
I have enjoyed reading your blog, and so appreciate your fresh perspective on this election. Thank you for keeping us updated! I adore your books, and as an artist, was riveted when you spoke at an arts conference in Zaraphath, NJ. Okay..I guess you get that I dig your ideas and work:) Here’s my question, What do you think about all the talk that if Obama wins, he’ll turn this nation into a socialist society? I was all for Obama, but in these last days before the election, I’m a little concerned..thanks,
Gerri Garrick

Thank you for sharing this insight. I am a single mom, who for one, did not vote, as I was not aware of what was or was not true. I have just known that something is wrong. I am surrounded by devout republicans who have even caused my little guy to be fearful when he heard Obama took office (He told me “mom, we are all gonna die!”)(mind you, he’s ten!) Of course I assured him this wasn’t true and that our greatest honor was now to pray for our new President….that it is a big job for anyone and they need our prayers and support. I appreciate yur honesty and the way you see life. Thank you for sharing. Your insights are not pushy but open and honest…bless you!
