The Mentoring Project is a non-profit based in Portland that resources and equips churches to start and run mentoring programs. Our goal is to recruit ten-thousand mentors through one-thousand church-based programs as an answer to the American crisis of fatherlessness. All donations are tax deductible.
Fathers Day Campaign Video #2 from The Mentoring Project on Vimeo.
P.S. Two questions:
1. Which hat looks best?
2. If Trisha and I start a video Podcast in which we answer viewer questions, what questions do you have?

my favorite was the stocking cap. nicely done!!! And best quote was…”I belive it’s pronounced Lucado, he’s a good friend of ours…”
You all are doing good stuff!!!
ha, love that hat… hats… yes.
Hats off to you. Hope TMP rakes it in for more mentors, more kids. Hat # 1 or the cowboy is the best look…way to keep a straight face.
well done with the hats.
The second and last hat.
How can our church, in Michigan (or those outside of Oregon), have an in depth partnership with the Mentoring Project (in other words how can we create/facilitate a mentoring project here)?
What are ways we (the church as part of that we) can collaborate with single moms?
And lastly, would you endorse my book which parallels growing up without a dad and the journey to finding the Father?
had to laugh – loved how you slipped the hats in there. My favorite was hat #1, either that or the cowboy hat. Hat #2 looked like something I’d want to launch hot wheels off – haha! Anyway, will be praying you have enough donors you run out of everything. I actually want to increase my giving to the mentoring project – the spokesmodel totally sold it for me:) God’s blessings!
My favorite was the goofy looking brown wig.
clearly hat #3…looks like somebody really cool made that one. Hope you make a wad of dough with this campaign. Keep ‘em comin !
lol Too funny! Hat number one was the best. They got progressively worse after that.
I’ve already ordered a book for my dad – hope you get tons more!
The stocking cap was really cool. Personally, a Braves hat would be nicer.
I like Wally’s question about launching a mentor program here (in ATL). I’d have to think of more questions. I probably have a million I could ask you.
I love how you hogged the speaking parts right out of your spokesmodel’s mouth! Of course she became speechless when she saw all those fantastic hats coming out!
Vimeo is having some issues on my computer, and I can’t watch the video, but I still vote for the cowboy hat. Or whichever one looked like something you’d launch Hot Wheels off of. Boys like Hot Wheels, right? And this is about mentoring boys. Seems apropos.
1. Multi-colored, warm and fuzzy.
2. a) Did you say TEN! dollars for coffee in your city? What’s it like paying TEN dollars for ONE cup of coffee?
2. b) After/if you, your spokesmodel, and her guy see tonight’s showing of “Objectified,” the documentary (Special Screening at Cinema 21, 7:00pm, post-film Q&A with director Gary Hustwit), and after/if you each cough up TEN bucks for post-film conversational coffee, what are your lingering, predominate thoughts and impressions? (I plan to see the film in a few days.)
The cowboy hat looks best for the shape of your face!
Are you ever going to have a section in your non-profit that deals with girls? I know you said in your book that you’re a guy so you’re going off of your experience, but is there any way to colaborate with a woman who has the same passion for this issue? I grew up without a father and I rarely see people delve into the issue concerning girls. There are thousands of girls out there who end up in abusive relationships, become strippers, get involved with the wrong kind of men. And then there are others who have terrible image of themselves, who suffer from depression and a sense of abodonment, and who are self-absorbed because of the pain.
These are issues that need to be adressed and I hope to one day work with girls like myself who struggle with this. But yeah, my question would just be, is it in an interest of yours to delve into this subject concerning the opposite sex, or is it just something you just can’t do due to a b or c reasons?
Much love,
Guimel
Ok, I take back what I said about the Hot Wheels hat. I am officially anti-Hot-Wheels hat, but I’m still on board with the cowboy hat. The first one was good, too.
Oh, and sing it with me now…
You say “Lucado,” and I say “Lucado”…(you know, just be sure to pronounce them differently in the song)
Hat? What hat?
i love trisha balicanta. i especially love how she tried not to laugh at all the hat changes. classic.
I believe we call those “stocking caps” toques in Canada….HAhaha just being OBSTREPEROUS! In complete seriousness, I enjoyed the cowboy hat most; everyone loves cowboys
the cowboy hat was hilarious
dude u should so start a podcast.
Don, you look awful in a shirt, so next time go topless.
Personally I like no hat or your signature military cap… or whatever you wanna call it…
I fully concur with your video adventures and would ask, “Don and Trisha please do tell me your most ideal week if no strings or money were attached… I would of course ask you to emphasize your most favorite “details” which is of course the BEST part of any STORY>>>>
The stocking cap, definitely.
The military-esque cover was smashing.

First hat = HOT
Not sure what kind of hat it is, but I think that the first hat was THE best, and that you should probably wear it everyday for the rest of your life.
The COWBOY HAT!
Hahaha! It was the most obnoxious and deep South holla! Good for you to kickin’ it back to TX
Love this idea. Want to convince my wife to donate $20 a month and get this for both our Dads!
A couple comments/questions:
First, Max Lucado’s signature looks like my two year old niece’s drawing.
Second, where do I learn how to creep into the shot like that? It was very nice…didn’t know you were doing it until halfway through the first hat. I thought, “Whoa! Where’d that hat come from?!?”
Third, TMP is doing great things! keep it up!
Fourth, how do you know so many cool people? Who’s friends with Rob Bell AND Max Lucado AND “The Shack” Guy? Not many…somehow you are…lucky devil you are! Do you guys all get together and have some sort of “Awesome Author Coffee Hour”? And if so, when and where’s the next one so I can come creep into that shot? (Not implying that I’m an awesome author…at all.)
Fifth, I think she pronounced Donald correctly…you should check your sources Don…
I was wondering what was meant by that quote you made about your new book? The one where you said that you felt that God was proud of you and all the proceeds from the book will go towards a trip to the moon, was that a joke?
Wow…Max Lou-Kay-Doe’s autograph is Gigantic!
Very impressive…now that is a signed copy well worth it’s hyped up status.
And, what a fantastic program and campaign! Thanks so much for all that you all do!
If I have to choose a hat, I would say the cowboy hat…don’t know why. but unfortunately I side with your earlier critics and think no hat is good.
And my question: Who are your favorite authors?
Oh one more….will you follow me on twitter for a day ot two? *westsidekids* Just long enough to show a friend of mine who has bragged a couple times that John Maxwell follows him. I’d have bragging rights forever!
Loved the cowboy hat- I mean, I DO live in Texas. But let’s be honest, hat #1 is what’s popping.
Love this Father’s Day campaign idea as well.. Best of luck!
