Choose a new Cover for Searching for God Knows What

When I was writing Searching, the book was always called “Our Circus of Redemption.” It never had another name, until the last minute. The idea for the name Searching for God Knows What began floating around late in the game, and I dismissed it immediately. I knew what the name of the book was, and we’d designed a cover and were going to press. But just before we printed the book, I got an e-mail convincing me to change the title. It was a passionate e-mail from a Vice President at Thomas Nelson. Who’s to know if the book would have done better under another title. It’s hard to argue with it’s success. However, the book has always been called Circus, in my mind. We even printed the old circus cover, with the new title on it….Anyway, now we are redesigning the cover. I like these covers more. And I may write another book expanding on lifeboat theory, and I’ll call that book Our Circus of Redemption for sure. That said, which one of these covers do you like best?

• Option one is in the lower right (Roller Coaster)

• Option two is in the center (Wagon Wheel)

• Option three is lower left (Elephant, Circus, Night Sky)

We would love to know your thoughts on these covers. And I’d love to know how you’d feel about new material being printed about the same subject discussed in this book. Are you turned off when writers do that? I am, sometimes, but man, there is so much more to say. I really think there is a personality theory in there that should be unpacked. THANKS.
