Hi Donald -- hoping you'll actually get this. I'm doing a project to honor David Gentiles' life and wondering if I can use excerpts from this blog in the project. Feel free to email me if you have questions or you can visit the website for the project at www.lovefortheunderdog.org. Thanks!

Don,
Gentiles was a dear friend and I had the privelege of serving alongside him on several occasions. We learned student ministry together and encouraged one another through those early years. I heard of his passing the day after but couldn't make the memorial service (although I caught it online eventually). You gave a stirring tribute to a guy who would rather you focus your attention on others...but it was due him. Just saw BLJ tonight. David would be proud...if he wasn't preoccupied with the presence of Jesus! Blessings!

Beautiful encouraging inspiring life he lived... I needed to read about David's life today. After a blessed and busy week, finished off with a late night with loved ones and being designated driver for family and friends, I skipped out on church this morning in exchange for some quiet rest at home. I prayed and searched the internet for something to learn and worship God for on this quiet morning and stumbled upon this amazing story. Donald, I've read and been inspired by your books and am really encouraged by this man's love for people. Worshipping God today for his work through David, how it has branched out and produced fruit for soooo many people, how His encouragement spread through David, spread through you, reached me and many many others... going to pray, take that encouragement and run with it. Huge thanks to God, David and you. Take care.

Donald, thanks.
I just read this post, I only meet David twice, once when he brought his youth to Redcloud to do a wilderness trip and the second time when he flew me to Austin to speak at one of the youth conferences. He was a great man and I was honored to have meet and known him. I only found this because I was just wondering what he was up to and did a quick google search and found that he had passed. I was deeply saddened because of the great mark he left on me even having only spent time together twice. He was a man among men, a mighty man, a father not just physically but spiritually. I am sad to have found that he passed, but I rejoice to see all that he accomplished!
